Read anything good lately? Want to talk about it? There's a book club with a new twist in New Haven. Bookrounds is the largest and fasting growing readers society in New Haven . Launched in New Haven in August, 2003, the group has eclipsed the 500 member mark. Bookrounds builds a sense of community and encourages flexibility, exploration of new venues, and mingling by bringing people together through a common love of literature.
Here's how it works. John Jessen, founder and 1st member of Bookrounds, reserves tables for 6-8 members in restaurants across town on various days and times. A list of books selected by members, restaurants, and meeting times for each month is provided to participants. All you have to do is choose the meeting you would like to attend and you will be joined by some combination of Bookrounds members. Next time choose a different book and restaurant and a new combination of regular members will join you.
At this point, participation in is free, with a recommended donation of $4 per reader which can be donated using PayPal or your credit card at bookrounds.com to help cover organizational costs. Click here to donate to Bookrounds!
The Bookrounds website was launched in late November, offering members the opportunity to make reservations online as well as participate in the voting process, read and add reviews of books and restaurants, scroll through optional member profiles, explore book-related links, read or post a notice on our bulletin board, and more.
