Commencement activities for Yale College, Graduate School, and professional schools begin on Saturday, May 26th.  University-wide commencement exercises will take place on Monday, May 28th at 10:30 A.M.  Tickets are not required, but some schools do require that an attendance card be filed by graduating students to secure seats for their guests. Below is a schedule of important events for each school of Yale University.  This list is by no means exhaustive, so for more information and a full schedule, click here.


Yale College

Baccalaureate services will be held in Woolsey Hall (College St and Grove St) with addresses by President Levin and Dean Salovey. There will be one service on Saturday, May 26th at 2:30 P.M. and two on Sunday, May 27th (9:30 A.M. and 11 A.M.). Attendance is divided by residential college, so please check the website for details.

The President's Reception for seniors and their guests will be Saturday, May 26th from 4-6 P.M., at 43 Hillhouse Ave (Commons in the case of rain).

Class Day exercises will take place Sunday, May 27sth on Old Campus at 2 P.M. This event includes the awarding of undergraduate prizes, celebration of Yale traditions, and an address by Anderson Cooper '89. Receptions will follow in the colleges, hosted by the masters and associate masters.

Commencement Ball is scheduled for Sunday, May 27th at 9 P.M. in the Lanman Center in Payne Whitney Gymnasium.

University commencement exercises will take place Monday, May 28th at 10:30 A.M. on the Old Campus. Diplomas will be presented afterwards in the colleges, followed by luncheons.

Faculty of Engineering

After the University commencement exercises, Engineering Commencement Convocation for Graduate degree recipients will take place at 1:30 P.M. at Dunham Lab (10 Hillhouse Ave). Convocation for Bachelor's degree recipients will take place at 3 P.M. in Davies Auditorium in Becton Center (15 Prospect St). A reception will follow at the J. Robert Mann, Jr. Engineering Center, Room 107, Dunham Lab (10 Hillhouse Ave).

Graduate School of Arts and Sciences

Dean Butler will preside over the Graduate School Convocation on Sunday, May 27th at the Hall of Graduate Studies courtyard (320 York St) at 1 P.M. Student and faculty prizes will be awarded and a noteable alumnus/a will deliver the convocation address. Dean's reception will follow inside at 2 P.M.

Graduate School seniors will participate in University commencement exercises on the Old Campus, 10:30 A.M. on Monday, May 28th. Diplomas will be presented afterwards at Woolsey Hall (College St and Grove St).

School of Architecture

Graduating School of Architecture seniors will participate in University commencement activies on the Old Campus, 10:30 A.M. on Monday, May 28th. Diplomas will be presented afterwards at the Art and Architecture Building (180 York St), with a luncheon to follow.

School of Art

Graduating School of Art seniors will participate in University commencement activies on the Old Campus, 10:30 A.M. on Monday, May 22nd. Diplomas will be presented afterwards at the Graphic Design Atrium, School of Art, Holcombe T. Green Jr. Hall (1156 Chapel St).

Divinity School

The traditional commencement worship service is scheduled for 4 P.M. on Sunday, May 27th at the Sterling Divinity Quadrangle. Class Prizes will be awarded and a reception will follow the service.

Commencement communion service will take place at 8 A.M. on Monday, May 28th at Marquand Chapel. Graduating Divinity School students will participate in University commencement activies on the Old Campus, 10:30 A.M. on Monday, May 28th. Diplomas will be presented afterwards at Sterling Divinity Quadrangle, followed by a reception.

School of Drama

Graduating School of Drama students will participate in University commencement activies on the Old Campus, 10:30 A.M. on Monday, May 8th. Diplomas and awards will be presented afterwards at University Theatre (222 York St), followed by a luncheon at the New Theater (1156 Chapel St).

School of Epidemiology and Public Health

Dean Cleary will host a Dean's Reception on Sunday, May 27 from 1-3 P.M. at the New Haven Lawn Club (193 Whitney Ave). Graduating Epidemiology and Public Health students will participate in University commencement activies on the Old Campus, 10:30 A.M. on Monday, May 28th. EPH Commencement Luncheon is scheduled for 12:30 P.M. at the Graduate Club (155 Elm St) and the graduation ceremony will follow in Battell Chapel at 2:30 P.M.

School of Forestry & Environmental Studies

Graduating FES students will participate in University commencement activies on the Old Campus, 10:30 A.M. on Monday, May 28th. Diplomas and awards will be presented afterwards at Marsh Hall (360 Prospect St), followed by a reception and light lunch .

Law School

Dean Koh and Mary Christy-Fisher will host a reception for graduating students and guests from 5-7 P.M. at the  Law School Dining Hall (Wall St and High St) on Sunday, May 27th.

Graduating Law School students will participate in University commencement activies on the Old Campus, 10:30 A.M. on Monday, May 28th. Diplomas and awards will be presented afterwards in the Law School Courtyard, followed by a champagne reception and luncheon (Payne Whitney Gym, Lanman Center in the case of rain).

School of Management

Graduating School of Management students will participate in University commencement activies on the Old Campus, 10:30 A.M. on Monday, May 28th. Diplomas and awards will be presented afterwards in the Caulkins Courtyard, followed by box lunch.  A luncheon will follow.

School of Medicine

Graduating School of Medicine students will participate in University commencement activies on the Old Campus, 10:30 A.M. on Monday, May 28th. Diplomas and awards will be presented afterwards in the Edward S. Harkness Hall Courtyard (367 Cedar St) with a reception to follow in Edward S. Harkness Hall (Mary S. Harkness Auditorium in the case of severe weather). 

School of Music

Graduating School of Music students will participate in University commencement activies on the Old Campus, 10:30 A.M. on Monday, May 28th. Diplomas and awards will be presented afterwards at Sprague Memorial Hall (College St and Wall St).

School of Nursing

Graduating School of Nursing students will participate in University commencement activies on the Old Campus, 10:30 A.M. on Monday, May 28th. Diplomas and awards will be presented afterwards at the Shubert Theater (247 College St). A reception will be held at the Omni New Haven Hotel (155 Temple St) immediately following the ceremony.
