During last summer's Downtown Goes Bloom, participants competed against each other to create the most extravagant plant displays.  This season, the Town Green District has added a new design concept to Downtown Goes Bloom – the beautification of even larger parts of downtown.  Throughout the year, Downtown Goes Bloom will raise money for both site-specific landscape improvements and the maintenance of the planters that adorn our downtown streets.

You and your business will have the opportunity to sponsor either a sidewalk planter, the planting of Day Lilies in the Temple Street Plaza , or a new watering wagon to increase our downtown watering capabilities.

Day Lilies in Temple Street Plaza

Happy Returns Lilies This summer the Town Green District will be planting at least 250 Day Lilies in Temple Street Plaza in order to enrich the space and foster a more dramatic experience of the plaza.  Each Day Lily bloom lasts only one day, but each stalk contains several buds, while each plant is comprised of numerous stalks.  The proliferation of buds ensures a blooming season several weeks long, and Temple Street Plaza will be graced with Day Lilies from late Spring until early Autumn. Click here for more info on the different levels of this sponsorship!

Downtown Planters

Downtown Planter Over 85 concrete planters ornament the streets of downtown New Haven .  The Town Green District staff fills them with three seasonal plantings, bringing visual interest and vivid color to New Haven' s sidewalks from early Spring to mid-Autumn.  From the pansies in May to the mums in September, these planters are a New Haven institution.  A planter sponsorship entitles to you have your name or logo affixed to one of them, either permanently or for one year. Click here for more info on this sponsorship!

Downtown Water Wagon

Town Green Water Wagon with Clean Team supervisor Judale WynkoopFrom mid-April to early November, the Town Green District has plants to water.  Our three seasonal plantings require 4,357 individual waterings over the course of eight months.  A hand-drawn watering wagon would allow us to move more easily through center-city streets and sidewalks and allow us to reach each and every plant in the downtown area.  By sponsoring a water wagon, you logo or business name would be seen by literally thousands of downtown employees visitors, and motorists seven days a week for six hours a day. Click for more info on this sponsorship!
