FASHION’S NIGHT OUT WALKS THE RUNWAY IN NEW HAVEN

~Shopping Event Showcases Exclusive In-Store Shopping Incentives, Fashion Previews, Live Entertainment and a Modeling Contest~  

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – September 07, 2010 – As a hub for culture and fashion, it is no surprise that downtown New Haven is steadily gaining a reputation as one of the premier shopping destinations on the East Coast. Tapping into this status, New Haven will be participating in Fashion’s Night Out on the evening of September 10th.  Celebrate the downtown shopping districts with exclusive in-store events such as meet and greets with designers, fashion shows, spa treatments, jewelry trunk shows and live musical entertainment.  The event, which will be centered throughout the Chapel Street shopping district, will begin at 4pm, with many of the participating stores extending evening hours until 8pm or later.  

In addition to the exclusive shopping experience, the merchants will also host the 2nd Annual Couture New Haven Modeling Contest open to participants of all ages (children under 16 must have parent / guardian approval).  After registering at one of two locations in the Chapel district beginning at 4pm - Hull’s Art Supply and Framing (1144 Chapel Street) or Celtica (260 College Street) – participants will have a mini-photo shoot and be judged on personality, healthy appearance and the photographs.  Five winners will be announced on Monday, September 13th and will be featured on an upcoming segment of WTNH’s CT Style.  One grand prize winner will also receive $100 gift card to J. Crew and a photo shoot in New Haven.  

With over 100 specialty boutiques dotting the streets of the downtown district, the shopping scene is widespread, yet tailored to the individual consumer. Participating merchants in this year’s event are: Celtica, Wave, Tracy b, idiom, Yurway Designs, Seychelles, Claire’s Corner Copia, Urban Objects / Urban Baby, Hull’s Art Supply & Framing, and Raggs.  For more information please visit www.NewHavenShops.com.  

About Fashion’s Night Out Fashion’s Night Out (FNO) is an unprecedented global initiative created to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, and boost the industry’s economy. In the United States, the program is a collaboration between American Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, NYC & Company, and the City of New York.
