New Haven Night Market Returns on May 16
Mark your calendars—New Haven Night Market is back on Friday, May 16, and it’s set to light up Ninth Square with one of the city’s most anticipated evenings of the season.
First launched in December 2018, the Night Market was inspired by the vibrant tradition of Chinese night markets. Since then, it’s evolved into a true celebration of New Haven’s creative spirit—bringing together food, music, art, small businesses, and community pride.
This spring’s edition runs from 5–10 PM and promises a choose-your-own-adventure kind of night, with 100+ vendors lining the streets. Expect delicious eats, hands-on experiences, and live entertainment on the hour at the Night Market Stage. It’s free, family-friendly, and even Fido’s invited.
Some highlights you won’t want to miss:
- A pizza-themed pop-up gallery from Strange Ways x New Haven Pizza Club—yes, there’s a 6-foot-tall pizza monument.
- Street eats from Cookie Thirty-Nine, The Cheese Truck, Green Bliss, and more.
- Hammer for Hunger with Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen (DESK)—smash your way to some great prizes.
- Local favorites like New Haven Pottery Studio, Crated Records, and Elm City Tees.
When the market winds down, keep the energy going at the official After(dance!)party at Café Nine.
Pro tip: Come hungry, bring a curious spirit, and carve out time to wander. You just might find your new favorite artist, nonprofit, snack, or story—right in the heart of Downtown.
