Taste of New Haven
Seeking weekend plans that involve a fork and a knife? You’re in luck! Venture off the ‘eaten’ path in New Haven with a Taste of New Haven Food Tour, offered every week with a variety of tasty routes to choose from. Go easy on the calories with the nutritious ‘Live to Eat’ tour or munch your way down the Elm City’s historic Ninth Square with the ‘On 9’ route. No matter which path you pick, we promise: you won’t go home hungry.
Yale Peabody Museum
Guided programs and tours, including our Highlights Tours, are available by reservation Monday through Friday. The fee for a guided program or tour is $50 plus group admission of $4 per person (Highlights Tours for Seniors are just $4 per person with no additional program fee).
Yale University Art Gallery
This interactive tour provides an overview of the gallery’s history, architecture, and encyclopedic collection. Focusing on a handful of objects chosen to showcase both the permanent collection and the special exhibitions currently on view. No two tours are the same.
Yale Visitor Center Tours
Yale College student tour guides provide a glimpse into the history and architecture of the University. The tours start at the Yale Visitor Center at 149 Elm Street. Hear about Yale’s rich 300-year history and aspects of student life at several of Yale’s twelve residential colleges. The tour also includes the Gothic Sterling Memorial Library, Yale’s largest, and the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library. Constructed with more than one hundred panels of translucent marble, the Beinecke is home to one of the world’s preeminent collections of rare materials, including the Gutenberg Bible.
Tours depart from the Visitor Center (149 Elm Street), cover the central campus area, and last about 1 hour 20 minutes. Groups of 10 or more visiting the campus are required to schedule a private tour. A video about campus life is offered 15 minutes before each of these scheduled tours. Please note that the Visitor Center does not offer information sessions. Information sessions are held at the Undergraduate Admissions Office.
The New Haven Green: An Audio Walking Tour of its History

Step back 300 years in history when you visit the crypt dating between 1638 and 1812 beneath Center Church on Thursdays and Saturdays in New Haven.
Ghosts of New Haven
New Haven is no stranger to paranormal activity. Ghosts of New Haven tours give visitors a spooky look at the supernatural phenomena, occult manifestations, and ghostly happenings that have taken place throughout the Elm City, while providing historical context surrounding some of the strange and unusual activities that have taken place in centuries past. Test your fears with a nighttime tour and search for storied specters that haunt the Elm City.
Grove Street Cemetery
Every historic city comes with its fair share of haunts, and New Haven is no different. Step inside Yale’s spookiest cemetery to say ‘hello’ to some the school’s oldest pupils. Tours depart from the cemetery office just inside the Grove Street Cemetery gate, and last one hour.
Participants will have the chance to encounter the epitaphs of some of New Haven’s most celebrated figures, including 19th century artist Frederic Remington, the “Father of American Scholarship and Education” Noah Webster and Roger Sherman, the only founding father to sign all four founding documents.
Shubert Theatre Tours
Each season hundreds of students and members of the community take a trip behind the scenes and “back in time” with a “Backstage Tour” of the historic Shubert Theater. Part
icipants are taken onstage and into chorus and star dressing rooms and offer a special viewing of the famous “graffiti walls”. Tours are open to the public and available by appointment only.
