Train
Taking the train is a breeze in New Haven, thanks to convenient commuter options available throughout the city. Located within walking distance of downtown, Union Station offers frequent service from Amtrak and Metro-North to destinations like Albany, Boston, Providence and Long Island. Alternatively, the Hartford Line CT Rail commuter train provides a popular rail route between Springfield, M.A. and New Haven along the I-91 corridor.
Visitors are welcome to ride the rails within CT’s borders, thanks to the Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Shore Line East commuter rail service, which provides fast and easy commuter transportation between New London and New Haven Monday through Friday.
Additionally, the Metro-North Commuter train provides local service along the southern corridor from New Haven to New York with access to and from the Shoreline East Region.
