A Blizzard Warning is in effect for New Haven until 6:00 PM EST Monday, February 23. Forecast total of 16.1 inches of snow (as of 3 PM ) with wind gusts up to 65 mph. Travel is expected to be severely limited due to whiteout conditions and dangerously low visibility.A statewide state of emergency remains in effect.
The emergency order prohibiting commercial vehicle travel in Connecticut has been terminated as of 4:00 PM Monday, February 23, 2026.
Residents are strongly urged to avoid driving for the remainder of the day and use extreme caution if travel is necessary. While interstate conditions are improving, local and secondary roads will take longer to clear as plow crews continue operations.
Parking Ban
A city-wide parking ban remains in place until lifted.
This parking ban applies to:
- All posted Emergency Snow Routes.
- Downtown, both sides of the street.
- Residential streets, odd-numbered side only.
- Within 25 feet of a fire hydrant, intersection, or bus stop.
- Vehicles in violation are subject to ticketing and towing.

Resident and Property Owner Responsibilities
- Stay off the roads unless necessary.
- Comply with the parking ban.
- Shovel sidewalks at least 3 feet wide to allow wheelchair and stroller access, do not block corners.
- Please do not shovel snow into the street or cover sewer grates.
- Check on neighbors who may need assistance.
