If your ideal Saturday involves a parade, something fried, and a reason to stay out longer than you planned, Fair Haven Day is your move.
This isn’t a quick walk-through. It’s a full stretch of Grand Avenue given over to music, food, and the kind of energy you don’t really schedule, you just show up for it.
The parade steps off at 11 a.m. from John S. Martinez School and moves down Grand Avenue, setting the tone before the festival takes over at noon. From there, it’s a steady rotation: Proyecto Cimarrón’s bomba, Agua Pa Chocolate, the Middle Eastern Dance Academy, Music Haven, Tere Luna, and more, running straight through the afternoon.
In between, you’ll find vendors, neighbors, and plenty of reasons to stop walking and stay put for a while.
Come for the parade. Stay for the neighborhood, the mix of working shoreline, neighborhood pride, and New England character makes Fair Haven a place where history and home life flow together.
And if you’re doing it right, you’re not leaving hungry. These restaurants are serving up some of the best cuisine in the city: Adriana’s, Lima 32, Buen Gusto, El Coqui, and Salsa’s Authentic Mexican Restaurant are all within reach—so your “quick stop” has a way of turning into an entire day.
