This neighborhood favorite event is open to all ages, free to attend and pet-friendly. Wooster Square Cherry Blossom Festival 2023

New Haven’s annual Cherry Blossom Festival returns to the Wooster Square Park on Sunday, April 16. This time-honored and resident-loved festival is a celebration of a seed planted 50 years ago – many, many, seeds actually. In 1973, the NewHaven Historic Commission and the New Haven Parks Department worked together to plant 72 Yoshino Japanese Cherry Blossom trees in Wooster Square. Black History on Display at the New Haven Museum

As we enter Black History Month, we’re taking a moment to spotlight a vital piece of the city’s Black history. New Haven is the site of the Amistad Affair of 1839, the history of which can be seen at the New Haven Museum. A permanent exhibit in the museum’s collection, “The Amistad Story: Cinque Lives Here,” chronicles the events of the revolt and subsequent legal case, a defining moment in the anti-slavery movement.
